Our favourite new indie and alternative tracks on repeat this week, featuring The Cribs, Sam Fender, Sea Girls, Another Sky, Glasvegas and Arctic Monkeys.
There's nothing quite like the buzz of falling in love with a new song and obsessively listening on repeat! Here at Blinded by the Floodlights we listen to a lot of new music and are always on the hunt for the best new bangers. In our new weekly feature, we recommend our favourite new songs released by both established and upcoming artists from the world of indie and alternative.
You can listen below on YouTube and on our weekly updated Spotify playlist.
The Cribs - Christmas (All Year Long)
Sick of the same old Christmas songs? The Cribs have you covered. Fresh from new album Night Network, the Wakefield band have dropped a new indie Christmas song. "Maybe this isn't the best year to launch a Christmas song...but whatever, hopefully this helps cheer you up a bit," the band said in a statement. And cheer up it does!
Sam Fender - Winter Song
Geordie singer-songwriter Sam Fender has released the stunning 'Winter Song', a cover by Newcastle folk-rock band Lindisfarne. It's a poignant festive song which looks at homelessness and the need for empathy at this time of year. The video itself was filmed in association with homelessness charity People of the Street with photographs taken by homeless people. A stunning effort.
Sea Girls - This is the End
'This is the End' is the latest single by London based indie-pop band Sea Girls. Back in September, we named 'Do You Really Wanna Know?' in our top 10 indie songs of the summer and their new song is another excellent, upbeat song with catchy and thoughtful lyrics.
Another Sky - It Keeps Coming
Another Sky released their debut album 'I Slept on the Floor' this year to critical acclaim. With its post-rock soundscapes and stunning vocals, it's been one our favourites this year and new single 'I Keeps Coming' is another beautiful effort from new EP Music For Winter Vol. 1.
Glasvegas - My Body is a Glasshouse (A Thousand Stones Ago)
On Friday (4th December) Glasvegas dropped new single 'My Body is a Glasshouse (A Thousand Stones Ago)', a melancholic song with crooning vocals and atmosphere. It's one we've definitely been feeling this week! The Glasgow band returned in August after six years out with 'Keep Me a Space' and it's great to have them back.
Arctic Monkeys - Arabella (Live at the Royal Albert Hall)
Ok, technically this isn't a new song, but we've been loving Arctic Monkey's new live album Live at the Royal Albert Hall so much this week we couldn't resist throwing in this live version of 'Arabella'! The performance is proof of why they are one of the UK's best live bands and the video has us missing live music. A LOT.
Our Blinded by the Floodlights indie recommendations playlist is updated every week with the latest releases and songs we have on repeat.
