Our top 10 songs from the year that's just been featuring Geese, Turnstile and more - who will take our top spot?

Keeping it short and sweet this year, here’s our favourite ten songs of the year.
10. Fontaines D.C. – It’s Amazing To Be Young
9. Geese – Taxes
8. The Lemon Twigs – I’ve Got A Broken Heart
7. Just Mustard – We Were Just Here
6. Big Thief – Los Angeles
5. Wolf Alice – Bloom Baby Bloom
4. Turnstile – Seein’ Stars/Birds
3. Geese - Au Pays Du Cocaine
2. Tame Impala – End of Summer
1. Pulp – Spike Island
Our track of the year is one we’d been waiting over decades for. ‘Spike Island’ is majestic. And it’s everything you’d want from a Pulp comeback. “The universe shrugged, shrugged and moved on,” Jarvis Cocker sings, nodding to the apathy that greeted their 2002 split. But he sounds determined now: “It’s time I’ll get it right.” His classic frontman swagger returns too: “I was born to perform… I exist to do this.” The synths glitter, the chorus hits hard, and Stone Roses get a cheeky name-check. Like their their latest album More, ‘Spike Island’ was a triumphant return. It reminds us why this band mattered - and why it still does.
